Champ has been with KSCR since he was 14 weeks old, and he got his name from his cute little trophy nose. He started off as a spicy kitten who hissed and spat whenever you tried to approach him. Over time, he has come out of his shell and learned to love being petted; he will even roll over, asking for belly rubs—although I wouldn’t risk giving him one; it’s a trick! He gets along really well with other cats and is untested with dogs. He chases a laser pointer faster than any other cat and is always up for a catnip toy. Champ does not allow you to pick him up and prefers your company at his level.
Champ has the wet form of feline herpes, which causes his left eye to get goopy and leads to sneezing. He does not need any treatment for this, and flare-ups will go away on their own. These flare-ups occur during times of stress—think of it like cold sores in humans! Feline herpes is nothing to be afraid of and is not transferable to humans or other species. In fact, 99% of stray cats either have the wet form showing symptoms or the dry form that remains dormant.
The perfect home for Champ would be one without children or dogs, along with one or two other kitties for company. His ideal family would be patient enough to let him adapt to his new home, understanding that it may take months for him to feel comfortable.
